Can Meditation Be Done at Night to sleep?

When most people think about meditating, they think of someone waking up in the morning jumping out of bed and getting into their finest meditative pose.

They’ll have their legs crossed, their eyes closed, posture straight with their head tilted back, with them holding their thumbs and index fingers in a circle out to the side of their body.

While this is one way to meditate, it certainly isn’t the only, in fact, there are many ways to meditate, and many times a day to practice meditation. Meditating at night is only of the many beneficial ways to meditate throughout the day.

Meditating can not only be done at night but should be done. If you’re thinking you need to close your eyes when you meditate at night, think again.

Meditating in a fully awake state (which is what you’ll be in when you have difficulty sleeping) will help you naturally drift off into the land of slumber and rest peacefully throughout the night (

How do You Meditate in Bed?

Most people are familiar with what meditation is but they aren’t familiar with how to practice it or how to do it. There are many methods to meditating such as guided meditation, mantra meditation, vipassana meditation, etc

( Sometimes you have to find which one works best for you, but it will well be worth it.

The best way for falling asleep easier isn’t going to be your typical idea when it comes to meditation, they’re going to slightly differ. When meditating while awake, generally you’ll focus on your posture and clearing your mind.

When you learn to meditate in order to fall asleep you want to focus on a calming sound (the “om” sound), noise, or phrase that will help you relieve your stress and enter into a state of relaxation (

You can also practice counting backward or mindful meditation where you remember what you did throughout the day and think of letting go of any stressful situation and what you could have done differently.

What is Guided Sleep Meditation

Meditation into sleeping

As you can see there are many different ways to help yourself fall asleep when it comes to meditating. What we’ll talk about next is guided sleep meditation.

Guided sleep meditation is exactly what it sounds like, someone else will be guiding you into a deep relaxative state of mind. This can be done by another person or an audio recording or video that you listen to before falling asleep.

You will need to be open to the power of suggestion for this work, as a pessimistic mind won’t be able to achieve much due to the state of doubt and skepticism that they always have.

When you open your mind up to all the wonderful possible ideas that there are in this world, it opens up a realm of possibilities to happen in your life.

When practicing guided sleep meditation you will hear things like “feel your toes becoming relaxed” and they will help you relax each part of your body individually.

They also might do things such as telling you to imagine yourself going through a serene lush field of grass or imagine yourself walking through the white sandy beaches, these should help you invoke thoughts of imagery that can help you achieve a relaxed state of mind.

Does Guided Sleep Meditation Work? Most people don’t like to practice things they’re not sure about. They find it funny and weird, unsure of if it will work because they never hear anyone else talk about it or they don’t understand the science behind it.

If you’re a little iffy about having someone guide you to sleep then you could be missing out on a lot of really good night’s rest.

Not only will guided sleep meditation improve your quality of sleep, but it will also reduce stress, increase productivity, improve your physical health, and literally change your state of mind (

If you’ve ever been feeling tired, stressed out, unproductive, lazy, or feel like you need to reset your mind, try guided sleep meditation and see what wonders it can do for you.

Is it Bad to Meditate at Night? Meditating at night is good as long as you know what you’re doing. Since there are many different ways to meditate, you want to find something that’s going to be beneficial for you and not keep you awake during the night.

Sometimes you might have to experiment between a couple of different methods before you find what works best but once you find it, you’ll be practicing it every night.

If you’re interested in learning about different meditation techniques you can use to help you fall asleep at night you can try these four different methods found here (,,20189101,00.html).

Try each one out for at least one to two weeks and see if it can help you find a better way to fall asleep and stay asleep throughout the night.

Sometimes the best thing to do is to practice a new technique until we find something that fits our needs. Too many people want a quick fix now and days.

They want to pop some pill or drug and let all the work be done for them. Not only does this take the joy of learning how to work and reaping the benefits of our work later on, but it can lead to people always feeling entitled as well as lack of patience, and also drug addiction.
