preventing sleep paralysis

prevent sleep paralysis, the initial stages of sleep paralysis are always the toughest to deal with. After the first episode, you will be completely baffled and scared.

You might lose a sense of the surroundings and believe you are crazy about experiencing something like this.

Ghosts, demons, and haunted souls

You will second guess everything, and the phenomenon of ghosts, demons, and haunted souls might take up most of your thinking time with increased anxiousness.

My first episode of  sleep paralysis

My first episode followed me, having spent all of my time thinking over what just happened how intense the feeling was.

I was trying very hard to move in my bed, but I couldn’t move a muscle. I had lost control over the movement of my body. I had no idea what was happening to me.

It is difficult to learn how to prevent your sleep paralysis, and the process is tough as well.

But it really helps you lead a happier life once you identify what the triggering factors are for your sleep paralysis. By the end of this article, I am pretty sure that you will know what you can do to avoid or ease up your sleep paralysis episodes.

Be Angry

First of all, you should have an approach towards sleep paralysis that is positive and helps you make up your mind.

You need to believe that I can easily stop sleep paralysis. It is not an alien.

Knowing your enemy gives you about half success because you know what or whom you are dealing with. The rest of the victory depends on how you learn and implement the knowledge that is useful in this battle.

prevent sleep paralysis is not a one-timer, and it will give you multiple visits. So you should mentally get yourself geared up to cope with it, and luckily, I have a lot of useful tips because defeating sleep paralysis is not impossible.

I am going to guide you on my personal experience as it has always helped me. First of all, you need to be angry about sleep paralysis.

This might seem like a funny thing to you, but it really helps. Once you are super pissed off at sleep paralysis, your attitude towards it during when it is happening also changes.

You get dominant, and you can easily subdue it. I used to be afraid of sleeping just because of sleep paralysis.

I declared war against it and boosted my morale. Here’s how.

Know Your Triggers

You need to learn what triggers your sleep paralysis episode. I used to experience them when I heard a buzzing sound after I woke up.

This used to be followed up by scary hallucinations and body paralysis. When I learned what my trigger was,

I actually felt pretty ready to deal with sleep paralysis. Because anytime I would hear a buzzing sound after getting up, I would prepare myself mentally.

My next suggestion might sound silly to you, but you must know, it really helps if you consider it and try to use it. Stay calm. I know it is very difficult to stay calm during an episode of sleep paralysis.

But if you understand that this is just a phase and it will pass. You can get yourself to a comparatively, relaxed state. All you need to tell yourself is this. “This is temporary, and I am ready for it.”

You can also try to reduce sleep paralysis’s effects by distracting your mind. Even your brain that is playing all these mental games can be distracted very quickly.

There is saying, “We feel what we focus on.’ So all you have to do is focus on anything but the fear and sleep paralysis.

A good start is to focus on how you can move a little muscle, your toe, for instance. Just focus on that, and you will be relieved to know that when you succeed in moving your toe, your sleep paralysis episode will have ended by that.

Practice Makes A Man Perfect

You might think it to be a strange tip. You may think that to practice fighting my sleep paralysis, I will need to have them first, and I don’t want them.

It makes sense unless you read what follows. Sleep paralysis episodes are not impossible to break out from, and if you can focus on something as I mentioned above, you will ultimately get used to the routine.

You will feel an episode starting, and then you will start focusing on any other thing which will help you break out of your sleep paralysis.

Here is the strange part, when you get good at this practice, you won’t get sleep paralysis episodes that frequently.

How To Prevent  More Sleep Paralysis Episodes

Preventing more sleep paralysis after you have become familiar with the sleep paralysis fighting technique becomes easier.

I personally can testify that you can overcome sleep paralysis and have less severity in them.

In order to reduce their intensity, you need to talk about it with others.

The best possibility is to find like-minded people and share your experience and listen to theirs. You will find that you are not the only one to experience this.

And you can take easy steps to take control away from it, or at least some of it.

These tips below can further assist you in overcoming sleep paralysis.

Value Your Sleep

You need to understand that it is much better to sleep than to tell your friends that you couldn’t sleep.

You should try to utilize that time in sleep because many researchers have found out that night with a better sleep can actually help in fighting sleep paralysis.

Do not give more time to activities that deprive you of sleep.

Get A Routine To Get A Good Sleep

You must remember the worth of a good and comfortable night’s sleep.

I remembered how it felt to enjoy sleep when I spent an entire day at a fun park and got tired.

What I mean to say is change your routine so that you get tired at the end of the day.

You can consider having a regular exercise session, reducing alcohol intake, decreasing your coffee drinks, avoiding your mobile before sleeping, and, most importantly, avoid situations that make you go into anxiety and stress. Practice meditate into sleep

Change Your Sleeping Positions

One very big contributor to sleep paralysis is if you sleep on your back.

That is sleeping while facing the ceiling. It called sleeping in a supine position, and you should not do that.

You should start sleeping in other positions as they have been proven to be helpful in avoiding sleep paralysis.

Once you are good at defeating sleep paralysis, you can return to this position if you like sleeping in it, but for the time being, avoid it.

Decrease Your Anxiety And Stress

My food intake and booze intake was so bad that I believe I drank booze in my weight and ate a lot of fast food.

This resulted in extreme levels of anxiety, along with stress. Both my mind and my body would feel them, and my daily life was disturbed on a massive scale.

I used to feel very low in school and never knew what to do with it. I found solace when I started participating in healthier physical activities and controlling and managing my food intake.

My sleep paralysis episodes reduced with that too.

Control Your Booze

I won’t lie. I still take alcohol, and I cannot stop taking it. However, once I grabbed hold of my drinking spree,

I felt very relieved. Both my mind and my body got a little rest because my sleep paralysis episodes reduced.

Drinking and doing drugs have been proven to get you sleep-deprived, and being sleep deprived is not going to help in any way in getting you a good sleep at night.

Now I have reduced my drinking to the minimum, and it has helped massively.

Give Your Mind A Good Time

Once you start to understand that now your overpowering sleep paralysis, you can enjoy the feeling.

This enjoyment will actually increase your power over it, and you will feel at peace, knowing that you are not crazy after all.

How To Handle Future Sleep Paralysis Episodes

Once you have learned how to deal with sleep paralysis, it does not mean that they will stop occurring.

You need to be aware of that; however, you will be able to cope with them very easily by following the same procedure mentioned above.

You can expect massive help by reading the section “how to handle future sleep paralysis episodes” and “how to act in a future episode of sleep paralysis.”

Conclusion

Experiencing sleep paralysis for years and then finally knowing how to cope with it has made me a very confident person whenever

I am around other sleep paralysis patients. I have had my ups and lows with sleep paralysis, and I am proud that I have succeeded in defeating it.

I am pretty confident that this article about sleep paralysis will assist you in how you can defeat sleep paralysis and not let it take over. prevent sleep paralysis.
